The principles and beliefs that guide the Raw Chocolate Company

We've already told you about how much we love chocolate, and obviously that's a large part of why we've set up the raw Chocolate Company, but there are a few other things that are very important to us too.

The planet - without the planet, nothing that any of us do would be possible. Absolutely nothing. It's obvious really, but the well-being of the planet means everything. That's why all of our ingredients are ethically sourced - the only ingredients we use that are not certified organic are wild-crafted or come from small-scale growers who use traditional, pesticide-free growing methods. As a chocolate company we do not yet carry an organic certification, as we are waiting to source all our ingredients organic as well as raw.

Raw, or cold-processed ingredients (never heated above 42°c) generally means less energy is used during their preparation, and that traditional methods are more likely to be used, i.e sun-drying. It also means more, higher quality energy for you when you eat our chocolate - there simply is more goodness left in low-processed food. We like!

Everything we use is traded fairly and we source a lot of our supplies through an eco-company that works hand in hand with local communities, improving living standards by providing financial support, education and technical advice on organic farming.

All our printed material, including our packaging, is printed with vegetable based inks using an eco-friendly print-process which reduces the amount of harmful chemicals released into our water supply. The paper we use is either 100% recycled or a mix of recycled fibres and pulp from FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) managed forests.

Conscious awareness - as well as ensuring that what we're doing doesn't hurt the planet, or any people, we also believe that by doing everything through a fundamental belief in the goodness of life, we are adding to the love, and that in our own little way we're encouraging everyone we can to do the same.

We really think that by cramming life and love into chocolate bars we're doing something that's simple, and almost magical - we're putting goodness out there, and hopefully we're helping that goodness grow.
