We're committed to reducing our impact on the planet. Doing all we can to run our chocolate company as environmentally friendly as we can, we of course still have an impact on the planet in terms of CO2 emissions.
Marches Energy Agency www.mea.org.uk is a charity in the West Midlands whose sole aim is to reduce CO2 emissions. Our friends there calculated our emissions for the past year, which came to 6.5 tonnes of CO2 - about the same as an average UK house.
As we grow, our CO2 emissions will grow too. To keep our footprint light, we plan to use green electricity, and make sure that our machinery and premises are as energy efficient as possible. We like our suppliers and distributors to keep their CO2 footprint low too. When we get bigger, we might even get a wind turbine to help fuel the factory!
Our aim is to be a zero carbon company. Until we are, we will offset our footprint through MEA's service www.projectcarbon.org
This year, we contributed towards the purchase and installation of low energy light bulbs in Bartestree Village Hall in Herefordshire. This will save the village hall £4,000 - and the atmosphere 15.4 tonnes of CO2!
Clean feet - more friends!
